Acta sollte den Kampf gegen Produkt- und Markenfälschungen sowie Internetpiraterie erleichtern.

Die Musikindustrie hätte profitiert

Eindeutig verloren hat die Musik- und Filmindustrie: Mit Acta hofften Hollywood und die Plattenfirmen, das massenhafte Herunterladen von Songs und Filmen in den Griff zu bekommen. Man hätte sich bereits mit dem Kopieren einer CD strafbar gemacht. Internetprovider hätten dann dafür haften müssen, wenn ein Kunde das Urheberrecht verletzt. Um dies zu verhindern, hätten sie dann ihre Kunden genau durchleuchten und überwachen dürfen. Gemäß Acta hätten die Provider bei Verstößen den Usern dann sogar ohne behördliche Anordnung den Zugang sperren können.

Doch die Gewinner sind wir: Die Menschen in Europa. Im Februar gingen zehntausende Menschen auf die Straßen, um gegen ACTA zu demonstrieren - und das trotz der sibirischen Kälte. Darauf können wir stolz sein.
